To help the people in your life who might have be feeling isolated or disconnected this holiday season, one of Australia’s leading voices in suicide prevention RU OK? is asking you to ‘Give the Gift of Conversation’.
Focusing on elderly Australians aged 65-85, the campaign – developed in partnership withThe Works – is all about using conversation to boost feelings of self-worth and self-esteem in older Australians.
“This has been a year unlike any other and the holiday season for many Australians won’t be quite the same as in years past,” said R U OK? CEO Katherine Newtown.
As part of the campaign’s ideation process, the creatives at The Works had to find a way to reach not just older Australians, but the people they interact with including their families, friends and service providers. The result was an idea to give the gift of conversation.
Because, even though a conversation may seem mundane to us, it can be a gift to the elderly people we care for.
So, whether it’s over a coffee, out in the garden or while playing a game, Give theGift of Conversation. It costs nothing, and it can save a life.
